Abby Sears is the President and CEO of OCHIN, a nonprofit leader in equitable health care innovation and a trusted partner to a rapidly growing national provider network. As a business leader and community advocate, Abby has been with OCHIN since its inception, stewarding its growth from a $7 million organization focused on hosting electronic health records for 20 Oregon health centers to a $150 million national consultancy. Today, OCHIN supports more than 25,000 providers at over 2,000 care delivery sites across 40 states with the clinical insights, practice-based research and tailored technologies needed to help more than 5.4 million systemically underserved patients access the quality and comprehensive health care they deserve. Under Abby’s leadership, OCHIN now employs a diverse virtual workforce of more than 1,000 technologists, clinicians, data scientists and innovators, two thirds of whom are women—more than twice the tech industry average.
A prominent speaker and HIT advisor with over 20 years of health care expertise, Abby is a member of many regional and national boards. In 2018, Abby was recognized by the Portland Business Journal as a Top 25 Women of Influence award winner. She holds an MBA and MHA, both from the University of Minnesota.
