Dr. Julie Vails is the chief medical officer of OCHIN. She is responsible for driving health equity, with a vision of achieving well-being and good health for everyone. She provides clinical leadership and guidance in the development, implementation, and management of all clinical and health IT systems, including electronic health records (EHRs). She leads the OCHIN’s Research and Clinical Consulting departments, which encompass the Clinical Informatics, Practice Transformation, Social and Community Health, and Clinical Programs and Clinician Engagement teams. Additionally, she supports OCHIN’s Population Health and Data Analytics teams to drive knowledge solutions.
Julie has extensive experience leading inpatient, ambulatory, emergency, and community health care organizations and physician groups in transformational change, physician engagement, and organizational alignment. She is a Certified Physician Executive and an Epic Certified Physician Builder with expertise in Epic electronic health record adoption, optimization, governance, training, and data analytics.
Julie is board-certified in clinical informatics and family medicine and holds an Executive MBA. She practiced family medicine and obstetrics for eight years in her private practice before transitioning full-time to clinical informatics.
