Around fifteen percent of women in pregnancy and the year postpartum suffer from common mental disorders such as depression (perinatal depression) or anxiety, yet evidence-based strategies to identify and treat these conditions are rarely used in their medical care. In honor of National Mental Health Awareness Month, we are proud to share the experiences of two community health centers who are participating in the MInD-I initiative to implement the collaborative care model (CoCM) to improve the lives of those living with perinatal depression or anxiety.

HCCN 2016-2019 Program is Wrapping Up! What’s Next?

Our current HRSA-funded HCCN programs are wrapping up the third and final year on July 31, 2019. OCHIN’s HCCN team is working with participating health centers to close out projects and outstanding work for the current award. All training and technical assistance funded by the HRSA HCCN, must conclude by Wednesday, July 31, 2019.  The new HRSA-funded HCCN program will begin on August 1, 2019.

Study Examines Effectiveness of AMA-Developed Program and Protocols for Blood Pressure Control

Uncontrolled blood pressure (BP) is the second leading preventable cause of death in the US, after smoking. While many efforts have been made to improve patient BP rates in clinics, BP control is often not achieved. To assist clinics in these efforts, OCHIN is partnering with the American Medical Association and other research networks to provide clinics access to the M.A.P. program, an evidence-based protocol to guide care teams in assessing and treating people with high blood pressure.
