Dr. Engers Fernandez is the vice president of innovation at OCHIN. A visionary executive with a unique blend of medical expertise and business acumen and over a decade of leadership experience, he has carved a niche in designing learning organizations and health system strategies. Engers’ journey has seen him assume the roles of chief information officer, chief technology officer, chief medical officer, and most recently, vice president of learning and knowledge management at OCHIN.
Engers’ educational background is as diverse as his career. He holds an MD from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, an MBA from the University of Phoenix, and a master’s degree in health infrastructure and learning systems from the University of Michigan. As an academic leader, Engers chaired the medical program at Florida Technical College, overseeing a vast student body and faculty. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to co-found NeoEd, where he introduced intrapreneurship and DevOps in higher education. He also founded iPresent Solutions, launching a groundbreaking 3D-HD patient education tool named Pangea that seamlessly integrates with electronic medical records.
Engers is a member of a number professional associations, including the Association for Talent and Development, Association for Information Systems, International Society for Technology in Education, and The Learning Guild. His commitment to leveraging technology for learning and development is evident in every role he has undertaken, making him a beacon at the intersection of health care, technology, and education.
