OCHIN staff from across the country convened for the inaugural OCHIN All Staff Impact Summit on October 21-22, dedicating time to connect, learn, reflect, and grow together. This virtual, two-day event supported our shared mission to advance health equity and transform the system of care in partnership with our members.
The Impact Summit celebrated OCHIN’s progress and accomplishments over the past year while also looking ahead to our ongoing journey as a trusted knowledge solutions partner. Employees had the opportunity to attend a variety of sessions, from health and wellness workshops and peer-led training to inspiring keynote presentations focused on how human connection fosters belonging. They also learned firsthand from an OCHIN member about the impact OCHIN has had on their organization and the communities they serve.
Fostering connection, collaboration, and purpose
In addition to showcasing OCHIN’s progress advancing health equity, the event encouraged staff to develop their skills and knowledge through interactive workshops, training sessions, and learning activities. This emphasis on continuous learning ensures that they are well-prepared to meet current and future member needs.
The event also strengthened relationships among staff through team-building activities, open discussions, and networking time, fostering a sense of community and collaboration while enhancing teamwork and communication across the organization.
In her opening keynote, OCHIN president and CEO Abby Sears reflected on OCHIN’s growth over the past 25 years and the insights gained from our evolution as an integrated knowledge solutions partner that will guide us into the future.
“OCHIN of 25 years ago isn’t the same as OCHIN today. Trust the process and trust each other along the way,” she said.
Staff also heard directly from OCHIN member Roanoke Chowan Community Health Center, who shared how they used OCHIN Epic tools to measurably transform the health of their community in North Carolina, helping them connect to a shared purpose.
Championing a culture of belonging
The enthusiasm for Impact Summit, which will be held biannually, and its opportunities for connection and learning reflect OCHIN’s commitment to fostering a workplace centered on growth and continuous improvement. Guided by the core values of Learning, Heart, Belonging, and Impact, OCHIN strives to develop a skilled, diverse, and equitable workforce and promote a culture of belonging.
“I am truly grateful to be part of a company that genuinely cares for both its staff and the community. Reflecting on the time I’ve spent here at OCHIN, I am amazed at how much I’ve learned and grown,” said Ciara Murphy, an OCHIN workforce development learner recruitment specialist. “Each day, I feel fulfilled knowing that I’m making a positive impact.”
