OCHIN has achieved Epic Gold Stars Level 9 for its ambulatory care electronic health record (EHR) solutions, placing the organization among a select group of top performers committed to enhancing access to high-quality, connected health care. This is the second consecutive year that OCHIN has received Level 9 distinction and the sixth consecutive year that OCHIN has achieved Level 8 or above.
“The Gold Stars Level 9 distinction is a point of pride at OCHIN because it helps ensure that providers in our nationwide network have access to the very best tools and workflows to improve the health of their local communities,” said Nicole Klassen Ellington, vice president of operational excellence and business solutions at OCHIN. “We are grateful for our partnership with Epic, the operational team at OCHIN, and our members who are instrumental in achieving this high level of excellence.”
Nearly 200 ambulatory organizations with more than 27,000 providers across about 1,300 care delivery sites are active on OCHIN Epic. These sites are the primary—and in many cases the sole—source of care for more than 5 million of the country’s most systemically underserved patients.
OCHIN Epic is also 2023 Epic Connect Accredited*, which is an achievement reserved for hosts that “have happy Connect sites, demonstrate good Epic use, and are following Connect best practices,” according to Epic. Epic Connect organizations have high levels of system adoption and employ standardized workflows and solutions, which allows for consistent communication, build, and system maintenance that enables OCHIN members to improve the health of their communities.
OCHIN recently expanded its technology solutions and now offers EpicCare Inpatient to support an expanding system of connected care among rural and critical access hospitals. We welcomed our first acute care member, Minidoka Memorial Hospital, in June and continue to onboard hospitals across the country.

*Epic Connect Accreditation is a requirement when extending to groups with 200 or more licensed beds, 200,000 or more annual visits, or located outside of the community member’s catchment area.
