Vance Bauer is the vice president of research at OCHIN. In his role, Vance promotes and facilitates leading-edge research—including collaborative and interdisciplinary research—in areas related to the goals of OCHIN and its member health care systems. Since joining OCHIN in 2011, he has helped create the nation’s foremost community laboratory for health outcomes, policy, and primary care research with vulnerable and underserved populations. He was instrumental in the creation of the OCHIN-led ADVANCE Clinical Data Research Network (CDRN) funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, one of only eight funded CDRNs in the nation.
Vance has over 20 years of experience managing complex research networks and projects and directing research teams. Prior to joining OCHIN, he worked at Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research (KPCHR) for over 10 years in various research roles, where he played a pivotal role in establishing OCHIN’s Practice Based Research Network and supported the creation of research infrastructure at OCHIN. He also served as a senior research associate in the Department of Psychiatry at Oregon Health & Science University.
Vance obtained a Master of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Reed College.
