Sylvia Trujillo is OCHIN’s vice president of policy and regulatory affairs, where she helps lead the development of public policy and regulatory strategies that support health IT, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and innovative payment and care delivery models. With more than 20 years of experience in health care law, policy, and regulation, she is committed to advancing evidence-based policies that drive transformation without creating unnecessary barriers to adoption.
Before joining OCHIN, Sylvia served as senior Washington counsel at the American Medical Association, where she played a key role in shaping national policies on digital medicine, AI, and payment models for emerging areas of medicine. Her leadership was instrumental in expanding coverage and reimbursement for telehealth, remote physiological monitoring, and interprofessional consultations, ensuring digital health innovations could be effectively integrated into clinical practice. She also served as litigation and regulatory counsel at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, advising on Medicare and Medicaid payment, fraud and abuse compliance, and federal health care regulations.
Sylvia is a recognized leader in health care transformation, focused on removing regulatory obstacles that hinder innovation while maintaining accountability and patient safety.
