Scott Fields, MD, MHA

Dr. Scott Fields is the senior clinical advisor of OCHIN. In this role, he is responsible for providing clinical leadership and guidance on the development, implementation, and management of electronic health records (EHRs) and other clinical and health IT systems. He is also responsible for the information needs of OCHIN’s clinical research, support, and clinical consulting services.  

Scott serves as Professor Emeritus of Family Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), where he has been on faculty since 1986. As a practicing family physician and clinical leader, he has extensive experience in organizing and effectively using data in the clinical environment. As a clinical leader at an academic health center, he has expertise in integrating research into clinical care. He also has experience working with multiple EHR platforms and served as the physician lead for installing OHSU’s outpatient Epic EHR in 2006.  

Scott has worked with diverse clinics and communities, helping to teach clinicians and staff about the connections between training, workflow, data management, data quality, and improvements in care delivery and patient health.
