Advancing EHR excellence and innovation across community health care organizations nationwide
The OCHIN network has joined an elite group of Epic users worldwide by reaching the Gold Stars Level 10 designation in Epic configuration, setting a new benchmark in electronic health record excellence. This milestone places OCHIN among the top 5% of Epic customers, highlighting the organization’s commitment to equipping its members with the EHR platform of choice to connect quality care and integrated knowledge solutions to transform health outcomes.
“OCHIN takes pride in empowering our members to get the most out of their EHR experience,” said Nicole Klassen Ellington, chief operating officer at OCHIN. “Achieving Gold Stars Level 10 for configuration and Gold Stars Level 6 for optimized member use reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting patient health and clinician well-being, while driving financial, operational, and clinical excellence for the members we serve.”
The achievement marks the eighth consecutive year OCHIN has earned Epic Gold Stars Level 8 or higher, demonstrating sustained excellence in EHR solutions.
Leading innovation in health IT
As a national nonprofit consultancy and trusted knowledge solutions partner for ambulatory and acute care organizations serving rural and medically underserved communities across the U.S., OCHIN continues to lead in health IT innovation.
In addition to earning Gold Stars Level 10 for Epic configuration and Gold Stars Level 6 for adoption, OCHIN has achieved Epic Connect Accreditation+ for the second year, which is the highest level of recognition for Epic Connect organizations. Epic Connect Accreditation is awarded to organizations that “have happy Connected sites, demonstrate good Epic use, and are following Connect best practices.” By earning this designation, OCHIN demonstrates strength in maintaining interoperable resources that enable providers to efficiently access patient data, streamline operations, improve outcomes, and manage costs.
Shaping better solutions with member feedback
While celebrating 25 years of dedicated partnership and innovation, OCHIN remains committed to improving the OCHIN Epic platform, increasing EHR efficiency, and equipping members with tailored tools and clinical insights to better serve their communities.
To support these goals, OCHIN closely examines feedback from the annual KLAS survey, which continuously helps improve solutions and better meet the evolving needs of community health care organizations.
Like last year’s KLAS survey results, this year’s results again reflect strong satisfaction with the OCHIN Epic platform:
- Ranked in the 94th percentile among Health Center Controlled Networks
- Ranked in the 71st percentile among all Arch Collaborative organizations
- Improved overall net EHR experience score by 8.1% compared to 2024, with a 10% higher ambulatory response rate year-over-year
OCHIN Epic currently maintains a 91% average satisfaction rate across more than 250 ambulatory and acute members in 39 states.
This reflects OCHIN’s commitment to supporting a variety of community health care organizations, including critical access and rural emergency hospitals, community health centers, public health departments, and a growing number of Indigenous and tribal health clinics.
Connecting care by expanding access to Epic for 25 years
From the first community health center go-live in the early 2000s to the first hospital go-live in 2023 and ongoing support for specialty care, OCHIN continues to connect patients and their providers through the power of a single EHR system: OCHIN Epic.
In 2024, OCHIN broadened its impact by expanding OCHIN Epic solutions to support Medicaid and Medicare’s Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). This strategic initiative strengthens the OCHIN network and reinforces the organization’s mission to increase access to high-quality health care in rural and medically underserved communities.
That momentum continues, with about 14 acute and ambulatory community health organizations going live with OCHIN Epic in 2025 so far.
