OCHIN is expanding our apprenticeship program, creating new pathways for people seeking hands-on experience and long-term career growth in health IT or related fields. The program opens opportunities for aspiring professionals while developing a skilled workforce that powers innovative solutions and supports our members’ success. More than 20 apprentices are already working on Epic analyst and innovation and improvement teams, with additional positions expected in 2026.
Throughout our 25-year history, we have invested in structured programs that transform learners into leaders. In 2025, we welcomed 19 program participants into full-time roles at OCHIN, where they now provide critical health solutions expertise to our members. The current apprenticeship program offers a paid, one-year, hands-on learning experience. Apprentices work alongside experienced team members, receive mentorship and build specialized skills, with some participants transitioning into full-time roles at OCHIN or within our wider member network.
Fostering growth and skilled career pathways
Through talent‑investment initiatives such as the apprenticeship program, OCHIN has consistently supported the growth of early‑career and other professionals, helping them build meaningful careers while advancing our network and our mission.
Rebecca Brookes, OCHIN’s director of workforce development and transformation programs and a graduate of our hands-on learning program, is a key contributor to the initiative.
“Our apprentice program is designed to position OCHIN as a true talent incubator—one that fosters value and possibility by developing talent who understand our culture and have the skills to thrive,” she said. “That’s good for our people, our members and our organization.”
OCHIN has built a workforce program that not only identifies and supports high-potential employees but also connects their growth to strategic network priorities. By creating an environment where people can learn, advance and move confidently within OCHIN, the program strengthens recruitment, builds organizational resilience and enables OCHIN to continue delivering exceptional support to members.
From learners to leaders
The apprentice program attracts candidates from varied backgrounds—ranging from no health IT experience to advanced degrees. Anthony Radosti, a graduated apprentice and now an OCHIN solutions architect, said, “This month marks my nine-year OCHIN anniversary. I started knowing nothing about Epic; now I’m building out AI apps and automating Epic in ways that Epic told us were previously impossible.”
“I feel like I grew up with OCHIN. I owe my entire career to the apprentice program’s focus on learning, growth and fostering connections—it was perfect for me,” Radosti said. “I really couldn’t imagine working anywhere else.”
Another strong advocate of OCHIN’s learning and workforce development programs is Cally Johnson, vice president of innovation and improvement. “Participating in an OCHIN program gave me my first real exposure to improvement work in a mission-driven, collaborative environment,” Johnson said. “It opened the door to my first formal role at OCHIN as an improvement coordinator.”
At OCHIN, we take great pride in our strong commitment to shared company values of learning, heart, belonging, and impact, which serve as the foundation of the apprentice program.
“Whether you’re an intern or executive, people are genuinely willing to answer questions, share knowledge and make space for you to learn—and that culture of support has been just as impactful,” Johnson said.
