Denise Honzel has been a leader in the health care industry in Oregon for over 30 years. Since 2004, she has been consulting with the Oregon Business Council on their statewide health care initiative.
Denise has been working with the Oregon Health Leadership Council to develop specific strategies and actions to reduce the rate of health care inflation. Concerned about the shortage of qualified health care workers, from 2005 to 2007 she served as the first Director of the Oregon Center for Health Professions at the Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) providing leadership in program expansion, partnership development, fund-raising, and strategic planning for expansion of the university’s health professions programs.
In 1991, Denise was appointed Vice President and Health Plan Manager with Kaiser Permanente’s Northwest Region and was responsible for the overall leadership for health plan operations in the Portland/Salem and southwest Washington areas. From 1996 to 1998, she also served as Vice President of Kaiser/Group Health and was responsible for leading the integration and operations of the sales, marketing, and insurance operations functions. Denise served as OCHIN‘s Board Chair from 2014-2017.
