OCHIN has received its first Research Project Grant (R01) from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as the prime recipient.

When River Hills implemented OCHIN Epic, they became the first of 11 health centers in Iowa who joined OCHIN as part of a nearly statewide collaboration to help connect and increase access to care for Iowa’s more than 245,000 health center patients.

The OCHIN Patient Engagement Panel is recruiting five new members to join in their mission to help guide research that improves health and health care for rural residents and people facing barriers to achieving optimal health outcomes. In June 2023, they went live with OCHIN Epic and became the first acute care member to join the OCHIN network, which has seamlessly supported federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) and other ambulatory community clinics for more than 20 years.

As Lummi Tribal Health Center’s medical director, Dakotah Lane led the search for an electronic health record system that would manage patient care, streamline workflows, and securely share digital information with patients and other clinicians. He considers joining the OCHIN network a critical part of completing the circle of care in the Lummi community.

In a new partnership with OCHIN, 11 of Iowa’s community health centers are collectively implementing OCHIN Epic to transform care delivery and better connect rural and medically underserved communities with quality, whole-patient care.
