Homer Chin, MD, MS, was Associate Medical Director (Clinical Information Systems) at Kaiser Permanente Northwest (KPNW) from 1993 to 2013. He helped lead the selection and implementation of EpicCare for KPNW in 1994, a system that is now implemented in all eight Kaiser Permanente Regions.
Homer completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Medical Informatics at Stanford University prior to joining Kaiser Permanente in 1987. He is an adjunct assistant professor at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), and was an associate for OpenNotes—advocating for easy patient access to their medical record before it was codified into law in 2016. Dr. Chin is a member of the Association of Medical Directors for Information Systems (AMDIS), an associate member of the College of Health Information Management Executives (CHIME), and a Fellow in the American College of Medical Informatics. Homer is board certified in Internal Medicine.
