Around fifteen percent of women in pregnancy and the year postpartum suffer from common mental disorders such as depression (perinatal depression) or anxiety, yet evidence-based strategies to identify and treat these conditions are rarely used in their medical care. In honor of National Mental Health Awareness Month, we are proud to share the experiences of two community health centers who are participating in the MInD-I initiative to implement the collaborative care model (CoCM) to improve the lives of those living with perinatal depression or anxiety.

March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month: Check Out OCHIN Resources to Improve Colorectal Cancer Screening Rates

March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. OCHIN offers a suite of resources to help members increase screening rates, prevent patients from falling through the cracks, and save lives.

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S. for both men and women. However, screening is an effective preventive measure. If signs of pre-cancer are found during screening, colorectal cancer can be completely prevented. More than a third of adults over the age of 50 are not screened appropriately. Many of the vulnerable patient populations OCHIN members serve are at elevated risk for colorectal cancer.
