New Study of Racial Disparities for Patients with Diabetes Following ACA Medicaid Expansion
A study released in the Journal of Health Care for the Poor and Underserved examines the impact of the ACA Medicaid expansion on visit rates for patients with diabetes, seen by community health centers.
With the nation's largest database focused on the most vulnerable patient population, OCHIN was uniquely situated to collaborate with Oregon Health and Science University on this four-year study. The research team noted that ACA Medicaid expansion had some impact on the studied population, and that while in some cases it had an effect on visit rates, more research is needed in order to explore why some racial and ethnic disparities improved with the ACA Medicaid expansion, and some remained.
