Bill Adams, MD is an epidemiologist, medical informatician, and practicing pediatrician at Boston HealthNet. He currently serves as the Director of BU-CTSI Clinical Research Informatics for Boston University and Director of Community Health Informatics for Boston HealthNet.
Bill’s primary research focuses on developing and evaluating IT-based solutions for improving the quality of health and health care for urban populations. His focuses include the child health EHR, patient-centered IT, and clinical data warehousing for quality improvement.
Since 2009, Bill has been the primary investigator for the Massachusetts Health Disparities Repository (MHDR) and is the developer of the Health Outcome Monitoring and Evaluation Cell within the MHDR. Using these two resources, Bill and his team have been able to monitor and evaluate a large number of health outcomes and processes for the 1.4 million patients included in the system. He also has extensive experience in software development (including programming of the first EHR at Boston HealthNet and development of multiple patient centered telephony projects) as well as the management and use of large clinical data sets for quality reporting and research.
